One a day - Week 2

Oops, I am a day or two late with this, but life has been busy around here lately. My son finished daycare for the year yesterday so we were out last night with the daycare party. Was lots of fun to see all the kids together.

Anyway, week two. More stash busting.

Not the little ooops. I was working on these late on night, and got all the way to the end and cast off. Realised it was not stuffed. So it has gone into the pile for my son to play with. He loves his little pile of hexipuffs.

How is everyone else going this week?

Storage Sunday

I love storage and organising stuff, especially in my craft room. So, while I implement new storage plans and ideas (which happen constantly), and when I find something that I love, I will post about it on a Sunday, Storage Sunday.

So for today......
For a long while I have been searching for a way to store my ribbons. I don't use them too often, but they were just bundled (read as thrown) into a large container on a shelf, left to unravel (they do this when you are not watching). So, after many hours searching the internet, I came across this idea here.

Sorry, I don't have a before photo, I am still getting used to this photo taking for blogging thing. So here is the "after" photo.

Ribbon Storage

I used some odd bits of matt board I had lying around. I never would have thought to use this, but wow, it works so well as it is so strong. My matt board pieces are cut to 3" x 2.5". I found an old box lying around and placed the ribbons in the box perfectly. Now they are placed in their own special drawer in my fabric drawer system. Each ribbon is wound around the bobbin and secured with a rubber band. So easy.

Here is a photo of what an individual ribbon bobbin looks like:

On the sewing table

Yesterday was a day for hemming. I had a huge pile to get through to get everything tided up before christmas.

As well as sewing for fun, I also do clothing alterations in my local community. At the beginning 0f 2011 I decided to put myself out there and see what happened. To say I was overrun with work would be an understatement.
The only advertising I did was put two small ads in our local newspaper, and drop one flyer into every letter box. The work started flooding.

Of course, there have been busy times and quiet times, but the work trickles in and helps out the family finances.

So here is the finished product of yesterdays work:
Three pairs of jeans hemmed, one pair of 3/4 pants shortened and one tunic top hole fixed.

Now it is Friday and I am hoping that for the next week I will be able to finish my craft room clean up (This started a few months ago).

What is everyone else up to in the lead up to Christmas?

One a Day - Week 1

A while ago, I can't remember quite where I saw it, but I found a lovely pattern over at Tiny Owl Knits called the Beekeepers Quilt. Being a confident, but not expereinced, knitter I decided to give it a go. Then I came across this "one a day" challenge, and thought why not put the two together. So for the next however long I will be endeavouring to knit one hexipuff a day and joinng up to the one a day challenge.

So here is week one. Not quite seven hexipuffs but it's a start, plus I ran out of this colour. My aim is to work from Sunday - Saturday, starting a new colour every Sunday. To start I am using yarn that is already in my stash. I am also using 3.75mm DPN's as when I started I couldnt' find any 4mm DPN's that I liked.

Renzplace......the beginning

Hello all and welcome to Renzplace.

I'm Renee and love crafting. All sorts of crafting; sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, I will give anything a go.

I started Renzplace a while ago, but have never been an avid blogger. I love reading other people's blog (maybe you could classify it as an addiction). So I thought it was about time to begin my own and share my creations, findings, likes, dislikes, my life in general....with the whole world.

I can't wait to see who follows me on this journey, hopefully it's going to be fun.

See you all again soon
